OverviewMicrosoft Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's "Intelligent Cloud" mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. We are looking for an experienced information systems and technology (IS&T) professional to join the IS&T team embedded within Microsoft's SCHIE engineering team. The Senior IT Hardware Lab Engineer will be part of a dynamic engineering infrastructure team enabling our technical creativity. This role will have primary responsibilities overseeing the Raleigh Site, server support infrastructure enabling and managing our hardware validation labs with cloud services and related engineering systems and the operational teams delivering these services. ResponsibilitiesAdministrative server specification, deployment, maintenance, and support Top level support for Windows cluster and lab support infrastructure issues Support operating system deployment, patching, and orchestration systems Oversee external server operations staff Review telemetry for server functions Define process and policy around server infrastructure architecture and lab operation concerns Interface and advise engineering teams on complex network connected hardware deployments Interface and advise other disciplines within the team on deployment, security, management concerns | |
