Job Summary:

The Communications Manager of Mobile Health will ensure the delivery of a world-class, inclusive of all service levels, dispatch center that is quality driven and aligned with RWJBH's strategic and operational plan. This position will lead and implement all 911 assignments as well as emergency and routine transports for the system. The Communications Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategic vision to improve the performance and stability of RWJBH's Communications Center.

The Communications Manager will report directly to the Assistant Vice President of Mobile Health and will foster a collaborative environment within the management team in developing and accessing RWJBH's long-term Mobile Health Strategy. The Communications Manager will provide outstanding and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in all aspects of Mobile Health, developing broad based relationships with RWJBH, the community and other key stakeholders. The Communications Manager will be expected to lead, coach, develop and retain a high-performing management team, all the while emphasizing broad based strategic planning, metric based analysis and program budgeting.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for assisting the Assistant Vice President and Regional Director's with oversight and management of the ALS/BLS Services/Territories to ensure that RWJBarnabas Health can maximize oversight, communication coverage, scalability and efficiencies for Mobile Health. Responsible for maintaining positive working relationships with all stakeholders as well as developing long term growth and geographic retention strategy.

  • Responsible for developing policies and procedures for the communication center which averages approximately 250,000 911 calls a year for operational efficiency and alignment with long term strategies

  • Responsible for the oversight, and accuracy of many of the system dispatch ISS interfaces such as the 911 interface phone system, the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), Mapping Software, etc.

  • Responsible for the Quality Program of the Communication Center to include (call-taking, Pro-QA inputs, etc)

  • Responsible for the weekly, monthly, quarterly reporting of data to our contracted towns, facilities, and state authorities.

  • Responsible for the Communication Shared Governance Council, participation in the Employee Operations Meetings, and the Medical Advisory Board

Job Qualifications/Education/Training/Certification/Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field of study preferred
  • Active or prior Experience as an EMT, Paramedic, or EMD
  • Experience operating/managing a comprehensive 911/transportation Communication Center.
  • Communication Accreditation Experience preferred (NAAC or other accreditation body)
