What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a dedicated Cell Reliability Engineer to join our Fleet Analytics team. Battery cells are the foundation of every Tesla product, requiring innovative architectures with cutting-edge performance and unprecedented manufacturing scale. In this role, you will drive the validation of cell field reliability forecasts by integrating lab testing with fleet data insights. Collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineering teams, you will develop and refine test protocols to enhance prediction accuracy and support decision-making for emerging cell technologies.


What You'll Do
  • Utilize existing models to assess lithium-ion battery performance and longevity in field conditions
  • Design standard and accelerated test protocols based on real-world scenarios to refine model accuracy for current and new cell designs
  • Analyze lab test data to predict cell product field reliability and identify potential program risks
  • Partner with teams on failure analysis to determine root causes and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders to inform cell technology development
  • Leverage fleet insights to continuously improve reliability forecasts and testing methodologies

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Deep knowledge of lithium-ion cell chemistry and degradation mechanisms
  • Proficiency in programming with experience in Python and SQL
  • Familiarity with Spark and Apache Airflow is preferred
  • Background in statistical analysis is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Expected Compensation
    $104,000 - $156,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
