HDR's Fire & Life Safety (FLS) team is continuing to expand our market sector expertise across HDR's client base, including Civic (high-rises, auditoriums/arenas, detention, recreational), Federal (Department of Defense (DoD), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Veteran Affairs (VA), National Park Service (NPS), General Services Administration (GSA), Healthcare, Resources (hazardous materials, power, hydropower, waste, oil/gas/LNG, mining, industrial, fuels, material handling), Science/Tech/Labs, Transportation (aviation, rail, roads/bridges, marine, public transit), and Water (water/waste/storm treatment). Seeking recent or expected graduates of Winter 2025 or Spring 2026. Primary Responsibilities In the role of Fire Protection EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
Assist on the fire protection portions of projects under the direction of a Senior Fire Protection Engineer Meet with clients and contractors Interpret engineering data for designers and drafters Check the drawings on a continuing basis to ensure accuracy and completeness, and promote the skills of designers and drafters Monitor the schedule and budgets for projects Review and summarize applicable codes, and record them for inclusion in the design record Coordinate work with other disciplines and consultants Check contract documents and shop drawings, and answer requests for information Assist in writing the specifications in conjunction with the Technical Services Department Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression Experience in a technical design, review and inspection, or consulting role involving fire protection or other building systems Good working knowledge of, and experience with, Autodesk Products such as AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks Graduation required prior to start

- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
