Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour

Job Description:

As the Seasonal Front Desk Receptionist (Nov. 3rd-Dec. 24th) you will communicate effectively with clients visiting the Corps and by answering incoming calls from clients requesting information and assistance. As the first point of contact with clients, you will create a positive first impression by maintaining a welcoming, helpful, and organized environment. You will manage front door access to ensure the safety of clients, staff & visitors. By managing incoming communications, greeting visitors, and handling administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, you will directly influence visitor satisfaction and the overall perception of The Salvation Army, and ensure that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:



  • Answer all incoming phone calls, assisting clients on the phone and in person, and directing calls to the appropriate staff member
  • Manage the front entrance access into the building while following safety protocol
  • Assist with scheduling clients for emergency utility or rent assistance, bus passes and work boots
  • Normal working hours will be Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (1/2 hour unpaid lunch)
  • Acceptance of The Salvation Army Mission and strict adherence to The Salvation Army policy and procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: Previous receptionist or office experience preferred.

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license; however, driving Corps vehicles I prohibited. Must complete the Safe From Harm training within the first two weeks of employment.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, staff, visitors, and clients
  • Ability to answer incoming phone calls and direct calls to staff members
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products
  • Ability to multi-task, possess good organizational skills and reliable attendance
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with great attention to detail
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and office machines

Physical Requirements Include:



  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time

Travel: None

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment, and training will be provided.
