Who we are looking for

Purpose

We are searching for an experienced Thought Leader Liaison Lead (TLL) who is responsible for developing, managing, and engaging with Key Opinion Leaders throughout their assigned geography. This newly created position will initially focus on pre-launch preparation in anticipation of FDA approval of our PAH/PH-ILD collaboration asset. They work closely with commercial colleagues, alliance partners and other staff to help build advocacy with KOLs. The Thought Leader Liaison also manages speakers, and captures KOL beliefs/insights, among other duties and responsibilities. This field-based position requires an individual to work independently and effectively with limited direction. The person in this role contributes to the companies/product success by driving awareness, developing strategies, and building corporate relationships with respiratory thought leaders while working in a collaboratively compliant way with other Chiesi and Gossamer customer facing roles (MSLs, Sales, Access). The position will be aligned to support the AIR Business Unit and requires frequent travel within the US and periodic travel to the corporate office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Thought Leader Engagement


    • Proactively identify, cultivate, and maintain professional relationships with established and up-and-coming PAH and PH-ILD Key Opinion Leaders.
    • Support speaker programs, advisory roles, and congress participation
    • Identify, map, and manage relationships with key national associations and other large treatment facilities (includes the detailed mapping of referral patterns, key relationships, and influencers)


  • Commercial Insights Gathering


    • Collect feedback from KOLs regarding unmet medical needs, treatment trends, and competitor landscape
    • Liaise with marketing and sales to share feedback derived from brand needs
    • Conduct in-depth, on-label discussions with thought leaders to communicate product messages, brand narrative, and disseminate complementary evidence
    • Coordinate and lead one-to-one exchanges between US team and KOLs across key initiatives and events.


  • Congress / Key Event Management / Peer-to-peer Engagement


    • Attend and manage brand activity at key regional and targeted national conferences.
    • Plan and execute strategic engagement activities at events and conferences
    • Support all necessary conference and speaker contract requirements in a timely manner.
    • Identify and recruit potential speakers for educational events, providing training and materials to support peer-to-peer programs
    • Provide insights summary from key congresses to the marketing team.


  • Cross Functional Coordination


    • Work cross functionally to drive and develop aligned external engagement strategies across multiple cross functional teams including medical, training, marketing, and sales.
    • Coordinate closely with the sales team to ensure alignment with the conference KOL engagement plan as well as other KOL/account engagement.
    • Be a resource for the Marketing team to develop board strategy, content, advisory recommendations, and attend advisory boards as appropriate.
    • Coordinate with Market Development Manager and Speaker Programs Management on KOL Speaker bureau relationships including supporting speaker training.
    • Promote a customer-first culture by partnering with Customer Experience team to enhance TL engagement through listening platforms and co-created educational initiatives. Support CX goals and performance metrics.


  • Corporate Awareness & Sustainability


    • Advance Chiesi's mission and sustainability values withing the TL community. Align engagement with B Corp and environmental priorities.


  • Compliance & Policy Adherence


    • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, regulatory standards, and expense guidelines. Maintain accurate documentation and stay current with industry regulations.


  • Additional Information:


    • Business travel is regularly required (50% - 65%)
    • Willingness to work evenings and select weekends is required.
    • Thorough knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and hospital credentialing processes. This includes obtaining and maintaining the necessary hospital credentials to access and operate within healthcare institutions. Credentialing includes successful completion of a drug test, including testing for marijuana.



Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with direct experience as a TLL in PAH.
  • 3+ years working within Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension REQUIRED
  • Proven success in supporting or leading product launches
  • Experience developing and executing HCP key strategies.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute KOL mapping and plans, as well as building KOL advocacy in the targeted therapeutic areas.
  • Self-starter with strong clinical acumen, solutions oriented and can function autonomously.
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory issues impacting pharmaceutical product marketing as well as the dynamics driving the US health care environment
  • Existing relationships with KOLs (opinion leaders, centers of excellence etc.)
  • Strong relationship building skills, with proven ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with KOLs and navigate strategic accounts (Integrated Delivery Networks, Academic Medical Centers, Centers of Excellence, etc.)
  • Ability to exercise strong decision-making skills and live up to the highest ethical standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including confident executive presence.
  • Ability to build productive partnerships and collaborate effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Ability to creatively address problems in an organized, systematic way
  • High degree of organizational awareness, ability to connect the dots to understand all the interdependencies and big picture.
  • Exceptional critical thinking to help identify educational gaps, analyze findings, and make recommendations while articulating next steps.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotional activities, pharma industry guidelines and other compliance-related issues
  • Ability to travel 60% domestically. In the field a minimum of 3 days a week and weekend work as required for congresses and peer:peer programs.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record in good standing.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Marketing, Communications, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; clinical or scientific background is a plus.
  • MBA or advanced degree desired but not required.

Compensation

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $149,220 to $219,360. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
