Director, Reporting & Insights, Product Transformation

Summary of Position

  • Responsible for building the operational infrastructure, reporting systems, cross-functional capabilities that enable a high-performing P&L, sales and account management team across our lines of business.
  • Architect and deliver enterprise-grade dashboards, KPI's, forecasting models, reporting tools and analyses that give visibility into product, sales, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with Dir., Bus. Transformation - Special Projects and the business to identify and measure ROI for projects, to determine the future course of transformation projects based on those defined metrics, and to prepare information for senior management as actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with product, sales, marketing and finance to design reporting and membership forecasting that aligns to decision-making needs. Ensure that P&L leadership, marketing leadership and sales leadership has the insight that is required to manage the businesses / functional areas effectively.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Design and implement standardized dashboards and scorecards across lines of business and departments.
  • Perform research to identify, define, determine, implement, and evolve KPI's across the growth organization tied to P&L outcomes. Ensure standardization and clarity in reporting on project goals, progress and results.
  • Collaborate on evolving an EmblemHealth's products and related operations to meet new business goals and to enhance product development, customer experience, and overall market competitiveness. Incorporate usage ofOKRs to track progress and dynamically recommend resource reallocation based on performance.
  • Build MVP versions of reports in Tableau, Excel, Power BI to extract insights; monitor project outcomes and utilize appropriate measures to determine level of success; collaborate with Actuarial and Finance to determine ROI on project(s). Recommend changes as appropriate to improve project/process efficacy.
  • Collaborate with analysts, BI, data science and finance to connect data sources and validate reporting logic.
  • Develop a cadence of reporting and performance reviews to support decision-making (in partnership with other team members).
  • Work cross-functionally to create consistent reporting, forecasting tools across commercial, government and ASO business lines
  • Serve as the strategic advisor to the leadership on data gaps, forecast modeling, reporting needs.
  • Serve as lead on various strategic analyses that need to be conducted alongside P&L leaders and Transformation Lead: Strategy & Special Projects for the applicable business segments (e.g., SSP, MA, Commercial) - design, develop, lead, implement and communicate analyses, insights and results.
  • Translate complex business questions into analytical specs and data visualizations.
  • Build, maintain and enhance various membership, growth and other models that can facilitate business strategy implementation and impact (e.g. membership projection, funnel pipeline).

Qualifications

Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, HealthCare Administration, or related field
  • Master's degree strongly preferred (MBA).
  • Project Management certification preferred.

Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 10 - 12+ years of relevant professional work experience, preferably in a health care environment.
  • Experience in utilizing data, analytics, and insights to reduce cycle time, technology debt, and other measures of efficacy
  • related to product/process turnaround.
  • Proven track record of building / scaling reporting / insights (similar) capabilities within payer organizations
  • Proven track record of successfully overseeing multiple large (company/divisional) projects.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple priorities/deadlines.
  • Ability to manage in a matrix environment, without direct management control, by influencing and persuading.
  • Experience managing people and processes; strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Healthcare or Product Experience across range of products and segments.
  • Experience with/knowledge of: Finance, Actuarial, Statistics, Operations Research or Underwriting.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audience.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Competence/knowledge of reporting tools / programming languages (SAS, R, Python)
  • Reporting Tooling (power BI, Tableau).
