Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $85,580 - $113,451.8. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Maintenance Engineer!

The Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the reliability and performance of equipment and systems through proactive maintenance strategies, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role focuses on minimizing downtime, optimizing asset life cycles, and enhancing overall plant efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement reliability strategies to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and lead corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to identify and prioritize reliability improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze equipment history and performance data to identify trends and recommend preventive/predictive maintenance actions.
  • Support the development and optimization of maintenance plans, including PMs and PdMs.
  • Lead or support capital projects related to equipment upgrades or replacements.
  • Maintain and improve CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) data integrity.
  • Monitor and report on key reliability metrics such as MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Train and mentor maintenance personnel on reliability best practices.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attend and actively participate in cross-functional meetings to align reliability initiatives with business goals.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to ensure transparency and alignment on maintenance and reliability efforts.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel on reliability tools and best practices.
  • Contribute to budgeting and planning activities related to maintenance and reliability improvements.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

Required

  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Predictive and Preventive Maintenance techniques
  • Condition Monitoring (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis)
  • Equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) proficiency
  • Data analysis and reporting (Excel, Power BI, or similar tools)
  • Project management and planning

Preferred

  • Engineering principles (mechanical, electrical, or industrial)
  • Asset lifecycle management
  • Maintenance best practices and standards (TPM)
  • Reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, OEE)
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Spare parts management and inventory control
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP)
  • Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE)

Education:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance or reliability engineering in an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability tools and techniques (FMEA, RCA, RCM).
  • Proficiency in CMMS software and data analysis skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with condition monitoring technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.

Major Physical Demands:

  • Sitting: Frequently you are required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based for [range] minutes/hours at a time approximately [4-6] days per work week
  • Walking: Continuously required to walk moderate distances up to [distance] [frequency - e.g., "multiple times each week/day/hour"].
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasionally required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment

  • Observation/Eyesight: Occasionally required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors
  • Communication: Frequently required to talk and hear, or otherwise, in person and by phone/conference calls.
  • Infrequently required to travel and work extended hours when necessary. Required to travel overnight. Required to travel internationally.
