Instructor/Assistant Non-tenure Track Faculty Position

Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution, dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants to join our dynamic faculty for a full-time non-tenure track faculty appointment in the Program in Physical Therapy. This position has an anticipated start date of January 2026 and will have 40% time dedicated to the role as Assistant Director of Clinical Education. We are seeking talented candidates to provide clinically focused learning opportunities for students.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach in an area of expertise, engage in research, and provide service to the Department, College, and/or University. The competitive total compensation package includes tuition remission for qualified personnel and a generous retirement plan. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience.

The Program's 14 full-time faculty engage in teaching, research and service to the University, profession, and St. Louis community. The Program in Physical Therapy is housed within the Doisy College of Health Sciences (DoisyCollege.slu.edu). Faculty have access to classrooms and laboratories with state-of-the-art teaching and research technologies. The Paul C. Reinert, S.J. Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning provides faculty resources to assist in designing meaningful and engaging classroom experiences. Consistent with the research goals of the College and University, faculty are committed to enhancing the Program's research profile via implementation of the Program's strategic plan.

Position Requirements

Required

  • Currently licensed as a physical therapist or eligible for licensure in the state of Missouri
  • Terminal doctoral degree: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) with a specialty certification (e.g., American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties board certification) or Academic doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.)
  • Evidence of contemporary content expertise including clinical education
  • Evidence of teaching experience (e.g., course instructor, continuing education, conference presentations)
  • Served as a clinical instructor and/or Site Coordinator of Clinical Education

Preferred

  • APTA Credentialed Clinical instructor Level 1
  • Evidence of University teaching experience (e.g., course coordinator, laboratory instructor, or lecturer)
  • Record of peer-reviewed scholarship

Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training

The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training houses three degree programs: Bachelors of Science of Exercise Science with a concentration in Exercise and Wellness; Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Master of Athletic Training (MAT). Both the DPT and MAT programs offer multiple pathways of entry, including accelerated options.
