As our new Director of Operations - Design Services, you will set the standard for excellence and collaboration, guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding design projects. You'll inspire high-performing teams, champion operational effectiveness, and shape the client experiences that help Interstates lead the market. What You'll Do: People & Team Leadership * Inspire high-performing teams by cultivating a motivating, inclusive, and productive environment. * Mentor emerging leaders and support professional development for all team members. * Oversee team structure, talent development, and performance management-including reviews, recognition, and promotions. Operational & Strategic Excellence * Make strategic decisions driving project delivery, innovation, backlog growth, and profitability. * Guide change management as we adopt new services, skills, and standards. * Oversee operational and quality aspects of our delivery areas-ensuring excellence in designs, proposals, reports, and deliverables. * Establish and track KPIs to proactively identify and address quality and efficiency opportunities. Client & Project Oversight * Champion exceptional client experiences while building lasting partnerships. * Serve as a key client sponsor and relationship builder within our ecosystem. * Solve complex project challenges and provide high-level escalation support. * Support long-term resource strategy, facilitate go/no-go decisions, and assign project leaders. * Foster collaboration across disciplines, aligning expertise to project goals. Thought Leadership & Technical Vision * Stay ahead of industry trends, technologies, and best practices-bringing insights to the team and clients. * Lead organization-wide technical training and share knowledge to elevate capabilities. * Pursue and achieve industry recognition as a technical authority among peers and associations. Qualification and Experienced Needed: * Proven Leadership: 12+ years' progressive experience leading complex engineering/design projects. * Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license required (or the ability/eligibility to obtain). * Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an ABET-accredited engineering program (or equivalent experience). * Expertise: * Deep knowledge of electrical design, NE Code, and industry standards. * Experience working with design & drafting tools like AutoCAD, Revit, etc. * Demonstrated ability to run large-scale, multidisciplinary projects and teams. * History of delivering innovative solutions and driving continuous improvement. * Proficiency in regulatory compliance and working with diverse stakeholder groups. Travel: This position can be based out of either our Sioux Center, IA, Sioux Falls, SD, or Omaha, NE Offices.Travel will be required and will vary according to business requirements. Up to 30% may be expected. Location: This position may be based out of our Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux Center, IA, or Omaha, NE offices. Compensation: The base pay range for this position is $150-180K + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
