Assistant Professor of Dairy Management and Applied Dairy Nutrition

The School of Agriculture at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Dairy Management and Applied Dairy Nutrition, with an anticipated start date of August 2026 . This is a full-time, 9-month position with responsibilities divided between research and outreach (70%) and teaching and service (30%), with funding provided by the Dairy Innovation Hub. The successful candidate will develop an impactful research program that supports Wisconsin dairy producers, livestock nutritionists, farm consultants, and veterinarians. This includes providing leadership and translational research in ruminant nutrition across multiple species to advance the efficient, profitable, and environmentally sustainable production of milk and other dairy products.

The faculty member is expected to establish an independent, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program in dairy nutrition and management that is integrated with teaching and outreach efforts. The new faculty member will be expected to secure funding from competitive federal programs and industry partners. Engagement with the Dairy Innovation Hub will provide opportunities for collaboration, research support, and connections with Wisconsin's dairy community.

• Develop an independent, externally-funded and internationally recognized research program focusing on dairy management and applied dairy nutrition, with the willingness and ability to contribute to small ruminant dairy nutrition.

• Integrate research results into outreach education programs on issues identified as needs of the state and its residents.

• Document the impacts of research, teaching, and outreach efforts and communicate these impacts to stakeholders, the general public, and professional colleagues.

• Demonstrate commitment to the purpose, vision, and values of the Dairy Innovation Hub, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and the well-being of Wisconsin and its residents.

• Teach as an Assistant Professor to stakeholders (e.g., students, educators, civic groups, boards, farmers) throughout the state of Wisconsin. Contribute to the department's mission by providing undergraduate instruction, mentoring students, and integrating research expertise into departmental courses.

• Participate in departmental, college, and university activities and professional service that support the institution and its stakeholders.

This role encompasses research, instruction, student mentoring, outreach, and service to the university and professional communities, typical of a tenure-track faculty role.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Dairy Management, Dairy/Ruminant Nutrition or related field.

• Minimum of one academic semester or three months of college/university teaching experience.

• Evidence of established scholarship, including a strong record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals for a minimum of one publication.

• Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.

• Enthusiasm for engaging with students in a variety of educational and professional settings.
