Hourly Pay Range:

$35.35 - $54.79 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Interventional Radiology Technician
  • Location: Arlington Heights, IL
  • Full Time, 40 hours per week
  • Hours: 6:30am - 5:00pm, 6-10 on call shifts per month
  • On call hours can be weekdays or weekends.
  • Required Travel: No

What you will do:

  • Responsible for and maintain competency for operating and troubleshooting procedure specific equipment including but not limited to: intravascular/ intracardiac imaging device, fractional flow reserve, atherectomy/ thrombectomy devices, lithotripsy, ventricular assist device, intravascular stenting and angioplasty, distal protection device, managing catheters/ wires/ sheaths, etc.
  • Assist physician in performing complex coronary, complex peripheral, transvenous pacing, and pericardiocentesis.
  • Assist physician in performing transvenous/ intracardiac/ transcutaneous pacing.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding and working knowledge of normal/ abnormal patient anatomy, including physiology of the patient during procedural support (applies to specific assigned specialty: Cardiac/ Neuro/ Vascular/ Interventional Radiology).
  • understand types and properties of contrast agents and indications/ contraindications, and dosing.
  • Responsible for radiation safety and protection of all team members during and after a procedure. This includes appropriate personal protective radiation apparel for physicians/employees for radiation safety and best practice reduction for patient exposure. This includes knowledge and skills related to radiation safety protocols and image enhancements (shutters, collimation, magnification, frame rates, geometry, pulsed or continuous, last image hold, and dose rate), shielding and radiation awareness, ALARA; monitoring of radiation dosimetry.
  • monitoring of lead aprons integrity and dose calibration
  • Perform fluoroscopy, digital acquisition, road mapping, projections/ positions, post processing, and archiving.
  • knowledge of parts, function and safety, operation and cleaning of pressure injectors.
  • Maintains technical knowledge and skills on all devices, equipment and software used within the Interventional Suites (Merge Hemo, GE CCW, IR Coder, Insysiv, Philips Imaging Software, Siemens Imaging Software, 3D mapping software, etc.).
  • Recognize and manage complications: manage access site complications and/ or recognize post procedure complications such as stroke, arrhythmia, bleeding and vascular occlusion.
  • Obtain arterial and venous hemostasis and puncture site management/ dressing.
  • Competent in deployment of closure devices (manual, external, permanent, non-permanent, and surgical glue).
  • Transport and thorough communication for transition of care.
  • Provide patient education related to post procedure care.
  • Respond to emergency situations: STEMI, chest pain, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolus, vascular dissection, cardiac tamponade, perforation, cardiogenic shock, limb ischemia, stroke, vasovagal, anaphylaxis, GI bleed, pneumothorax, and cardiac arrest.
  • Maintain and operate emergency equipment: defibrillator, code cart, suction, airway management, and automatic mechanical cardiac compression device.

What you will need:

  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or other allied health field
  • IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency) licensure
  • ARRT (R) (American Registry of Radiological Technology) (Radiology) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or must obtain ACLS certification within twelve months of start date
  • Current CPR certification issued either by American Heart Association
  • Advanced certification in one of the following areas of specialty: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Vascular Interventional (VI) or RCES -preferred
  • A minimum of one year of procedural experience in one of the following disciplines preferred: Neuroscience, Catheterization Lab, or Interventional Radiology
