Manager Clinical Engineering

The Manager oversees the daily operations of the hospital's medical equipment service program, including preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, special projects, and strategic planning initiatives. This role ensures the effective and compliant management of biomedical assets to support patient care and clinical operations. Responsible for managing vendor contracts and owning departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with financial goals and operational needs.

The Manager is also responsible for upholding all organizational safety standards, avoiding shortcuts that could compromise safety, and proactively identifying and addressing unsafe practices. They promote a culture of accountability and awareness, ensuring team members understand the impact of safety on equipment performance and patient outcomes.

Please note the following important details regarding this role:



  • This is an onsite role that will report into the hospital daily, as scheduled
  • Work Status Available:
  • Full Time, Day
  • Shifts Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday: 8AM-5PM
  • Flexibility to work on-call as needed to maintain operational continuity, provide leadership during critical situations, and support team members outside of standard business hours
  • Flexible and available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled, based on departmental needs and operational requirements


Relocation Details:



  • Providence is open to considering applicants from areas outlier to Richland, Washington
  • Please note a selected applicant who resides outside of the area, WILL BE required to relocate to the Richland, Washington region
  • Providence is willing to provide a relocation package for relocation to the Richland, Washington region


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree or applicable military training -OR- Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics Technology - OR- a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • 6 or more years of experience working as a biomedical technician -or- biomedical military training
  • Three or more years of experience working in a leadership role such as a Team Lead, Supervisor or Manager


Preferred qualifications:



  • Experienced in developing and managing departmental budgets, capital equipment planning, and financial forecasting to support clinical engineering operations in a healthcare setting.
  • In-depth understanding of biomedical equipment and healthcare technology management.
  • Data analysis and reporting to support equipment performance, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Team leadership and development, including mentoring biomedical technicians and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Strategic planning aligned with hospital or health system goals.
  • Skilled in effectively communicating complex information to diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership, to support strategic decision-making and alignment.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills, especially when managing vendor relationships or service issues.
  • Analytical thinking to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and optimize workflows.
  • Risk management to ensure patient safety and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, high-stakes healthcare environments.
