The analyst will therefore require Special Sworn Status approval by the Census Bureau. The analyst will execute the data analysis in the FSRDC, including data management, merging data sets, variable coding, constructing residential histories, writing statistical code to test hypotheses, implementation of statistical coding and data analysis, executing missing data imputation, creation of tables, preparation of files for disclosure of results from the FSRDC. The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for organizing the analytic files, the documentation files, and writing the statistical code to implement the analytic models for the main effect models, the residential histories over time, and the mediation models. The Analyst will meet with the PI Dr. Osypuk, the co-investigators, staff, and the consultants, including in weekly staff project meetings and in monthly co investigator meetings; execute data work and statistical analyses; review and interpret analyses; work alongside the student research assistant; and work closely with the team statistician; contribute to writing publications deriving from the analyses; contribute to presenting results from analyses at scientific meetings. In addition, the analyst will develop public-use datasets that will be sent to the FSRDC to be merged. Once merged in the FSRDC, the analyst will be responsible for developing analytic datasets based on guidelines set out in the original grants. This will include dataset transfer, coding analytic variables, creating an indicator for housing status, developing regression model code, producing results tables, producing and requesting statistical output, working with the NCHS and Census FSRDC analysts to disclose needed results, and interpreting and summarizing output. The initial work will consist of meetings and collaborative FSRDC visits to develop an understanding of the overall basis of the analytical strategy of the projects. Once analysis has begun, time will be split between projects examining diabetes, environmental risk exposures, and dementia/health care access among older adults. The restricted-use data analysis will require maintaining Special Sworn Status and completing necessary trainings for access to the FSRDC. Public-use data development will involve obtaining public-use National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), and tract-level census data and producing public-use datasets with a specified list of variables to be sent to the FSRDC for merging.
- New Data-Access Proposal Development. The analyst will work with Dr. Andrew Fenelon to develop and submit new proposals for access to restricted use data that must be used within the FSRDC. Proposals will be submitted to both the National Center for Health Statistics. The analyst will become familiar with the procedures of applying for access to restricted-use datasets from NCHS and Census, and will work collaboratively with FSRDC analysts to ensure that new projects meet requirements set out each agency. In addition to becoming familiar with the NCHS and Census FSRDC application portal, this process will involve a reasonable understanding of public-use datasets, existing variable patterns, and focus topic areas. The analyst will work with Dr. Fenelon to plan the proposal and will be
