Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

Play an integral role in building a sustainable future. At Worley, we are dedicated to advancing the world's most ambitious projects, including the design and manufacturing of industrial air contactors for direct air capture plants-technology that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere at scale. We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Control Manager who is a true expert in Synthacalk coatings and sealants-someone who understands their chemistry, application, testing, and performance in manufacturing environments.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for leading the quality control function with a specific focus on Synthacalk applications used in the fabrication and assembly of industrial air contactor components. Acting as the site's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Synthacalk, you will establish, validate, and oversee the use of sealant and coating systems to ensure compliance, durability, and long-term performance. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure the correct materials, surface preparations, and application methods are in place-and that each finished component meets or exceeds specification and customer requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site's technical authority for Synthacalk sealants and coatings, providing guidance on selection, surface preparation, application, curing, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Lead the qualification and validation of Synthacalk materials used across manufacturing operations, ensuring full compliance with product data sheets, industry standards, and project specifications.
  • Develop and maintain standard work procedures and quality inspection criteria for Synthacalk use, including environmental controls, substrate compatibility, and adhesion testing.
  • Oversee hands-on application quality during fabrication-ensuring proper mixing, bead configuration, tooling, and curing of Synthacalk products on metal and composite assemblies.
  • Train and certify operators and inspectors in Synthacalk handling, application, and inspection methods.
  • Conduct regular process audits to verify compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and the Pecora technical support team to evaluate product performance, troubleshoot issues, and assess new materials or technologies.
  • Manage documentation of test results, batch traceability, and inspection records for all Synthacalk-related work.
  • Support root cause analyses for coating- or sealant-related nonconformances, driving corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead broader site quality management activities, including maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and compliance with ISO 9001, ASME, and API standards.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production teams to integrate sealant performance considerations early in design and manufacturing processes.

What you'll bring to the role

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, or a related technical field-or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in manufacturing quality control, with at least 5 years directly involving industrial sealants, coatings, or adhesives-preferably Synthacalk or comparable polyurethane-based products.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in the chemistry, application, and performance testing of Synthacalk materials used for joint sealing, panel assembly, or metal fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation, adhesion mechanisms, and environmental conditions influencing sealant performance.
  • Experience interpreting and applying manufacturer data sheets, ASTM test methods, and coating specifications.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, train personnel, and enforce disciplined quality practices on the shop floor.
  • Skilled in problem solving, process auditing, and implementation of corrective actions related to coatings or sealant failures.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems, ASME/API codes, and Lean or Six Sigma process improvement tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, operations, and external vendors.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • NACE Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level I, II, or III
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification
