The Senior Director of Value-Based Care (VBC) Data and Analytics in the Population Health and Value-Based Care (PHVBC) division reports directly to the National VP of Population Health & Value-Based Care. The PHVBC team is responsible for VBC provider strategy and enablement working in concert with partners across network and contracting, healthcare economics, line of business and market leadership teams in highly matrixed organization to deliver innovative solutions that transform the payer-provider relationship and healthcare delivery. In this role, you will have accountability for the leadership, vision and guidance in the development of data, reporting and intelligence, analytics solutions that advance our VBC strategy. You will act as a big-picture systems thinker who can align analytics with long-term business goals while solving immediate operational challenges. You will apply a robust understanding of the U.S. healthcare system to contextualize data insights and align analytics strategies and stay abreast of value-based care analytic trends and best practices to deepen the understanding of patient journeys and health conditions. You will lead the proactive advancement of our data strategy and analytical capabilities to support provider enablement in our effort to improve our member's health by advancing Value Based Care & Population Health outcomes, accelerating quality and experience, and reducing total cost of care. A successful candidate is a person with strong analytics and problem solving skills that allows for thoughtful assessment of decisions and design of data storytelling mechanisms that effectively communicate and influence decision-making. The role requires a self-driven, strategic thinker, who is skilled at navigating complex matrix environments and thrives when leading through influence by establishing and maintaining working relationships with peers and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. You will build partnerships and influence with stakeholders to drive data-informed strategic decision-making and work collaboratively with product development teams to enhance provider-facing platform capabilities and data integration. You will guide the PHVBC team through change and transformation while accelerating the pace of new innovations. Responsibilities: * Lead quantitative research, analysis and synthesis of key insights across complex payer data and population health analytics sources to deliver actionable recommendations to VBC contracted providers in support of improvement in healthcare delivery to members * Lead and/or participate in KPI program development and implementation to drive organizational performance (annual, long-term, leading/lagging) and provider incentive programs * Apply data science methodologies, and where appropriate, machine learning and AI, to advance our analytical capabilities and generate strategic insights in collaboration with UHG enterprise partners * Develop data exchange strategy that supports providers based on their unique capabilities, technology platforms and level of sophistication * Support the evolution of the VBC enablement model and provide impact analyses to support continuous clinical innovation in practice transformation across all VBC value levers (HEDIS, Stars, ADDC, Utilization, Health Equity, etc.) * Provides vision for business-wide data activities and champions for data ownership, strategy, accessibility, and governance and partners across the enterprises in the design, development and implementation of systems solutions to support VBC strategic direction * Supports data infrastructure and analytics needs of product development strategy for provider-facing platforms utilized by VBC contracted providers to serve timely, actionable recommendations for next best actions for practice transformation * Support a culture of continuous improvement by providing performance analysis for internal stakeholders regarding the impact that programs have in improvement quality, efficiency and bending the cost curve Required Qualifications * Graduate degree or equivalent experience * 10+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated experience leading people managers * 10+ years professional experience in strategic planning, transformation, and/or analytics leadership * Skilled in data modeling, business intelligence (measurement and reporting), performance management and analytics (descriptive, predictive, prescriptive) best practices. * Broad and deep understanding of value-based care performance and operations such as quality, care management, network and provider alignment, and cost and utilization across all lines of business. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to analyze complex business issues, aggregate and synthesize information and quickly identify actions required to resolve them. * Solid oral and written presentation skills, including comfort with senior management with ability to digest diverse data and information into cohesive and succinct opportunities. * Experienced collaborator with demonstrated success working seamlessly across multiple stakeholders and drive towards common goals * Proven ability to drive, lead and communicate change effectively to executive audiences in a fast-paced environment and navigate the matrixed environment of UHG and solve complex business problems. * Demonstrated ability in systems thinking and enterprise insight to solve complex business problems and strong analytical skills with ability to drive transformational, consumer-centric change * Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility and partnering with business leaders. Must excel at building teams, collaborating and influencing across multiple distinct business groups Preferred Qualifications * Machine Learning, AI, predictive modeling experience * Provider-facing product development experience *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
