The Developer / Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications and integrations that support the credit union's business operations. This role will work closely with IT leadership, vendors, and internal teams to ensure systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities



  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new Web features and applications.
  • Oversee development projects from implementation through support.
  • Develop, code, install, test, debug, and document applications using appropriate editors.
  • Create applications for Altra and other financial institutions to publish in the Fiserv DNA app store.
  • Support applications developed for 3rd Party applications; troubleshoot those applications when requested.
  • Develop applications and / or dashboards for both internal and external web pages.
  • Create import / export files to facilitate application interoperability.
  • Update Web pages and applications to ensure site accuracy and currency.
  • Develop policies and procedures for publishing Web pages and applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with existing Web sites and applications.
  • Work with databases and reporting personnel to design, develop, and update data and information.
  • Ensure security of all Altra-administered Websites and applications.
  • Perform Website audits and report Website traffic and performance.
  • Create stored procedures to facilitate batch jobs.
  • Participate in setting organizational development strategies for the core and other areas of development.
  • Conduct research into current and emerging technologies and issues in support of development efforts


Qualifications



  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of Computer Science is required.
  • Additional experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • 3+ years of equivalent work experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of database structure and thorough understanding of Agile application development methodologies is required.
  • Experience with structuring, developing, publishing, and implementing interactive corporate web sites, applications and mobile apps is a plus.
  • Knowledge of major database products and their implementation of Structured Query Language (Transact-SQL, PL/SQL, SQLPlus, SQLite, etc.) is required.
  • Certifications in the Microsoft Developer Track is considered a plus.
  • Must be willing obtain a DNA Application Developer Certification, if not already certified.
  • Experience with DNA, C#, .NET, SQL, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Xamarin, Blazor and Python is considered a plus.
  • Desktop/mobile development experience (C#, Java), reporting/Data Manipulation (Reporting Services, Integration Services) and experience working with different web services and APIs (SOAP, REST) and integrating with existing processes where possible is a plus.


Work Environment



  • Developer / Programmer position is located at Altra's Operations Center in Onalaska, WI
  • However, work from home / remote opportunities can be considered for those candidates who live within Altra's approved remote states: CO, FL, GA, IA, MI, MN, NJ, NC, TN, TX, and WI.
  • Position will require some travel to the Operations Center from time to time, as needed.


Availability



  • This position is full-time, 40- hours a week, Monday through Friday.
  • Typical hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST
  • Occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines and on-call schedules is required, but only as needed.

Education
Bachelors of Computer Science (required)
High School or GED (required)
Experience
Bachelor's degree in the field of Computer Science is required. Additional experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
