Description

The purpose of the Health Physicist role is to ensure that technical underpinnings of dose analysis functions are accurate and consistently applied to all Mirion dosimetry products. This position will support the Technical Director in evaluating existing product lines and proposed new products. This position will assist with maintaining the performance accreditation of products such as NVLAP, CNSC, DOELAP and HSE. This position will also include communicating with clients and supporting the Dose Analysis Manager with dose analysis and reporting functions. Responsible for participating in Kaizen events, providing technical guidance, and training Mirion staff and maintaining cognizance of national and international regulations that impact occupational dosimetry measuring and reporting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES & CORE FUNCTIONS:



  • Coordinate the preparation of dosimetry shipments for performance testing to national and international agencies.
  • Evaluating results of accreditation testing
  • Interfacing with accreditation agencies
  • Completing customer request cases and communicating with customers as assigned and as required.
  • Review periodic quality control testing and identify potential anomalous trends and results
  • Coordinate the preparation of blind spike testing
  • Coordinate new inventory acceptance testing of dosimetry products
  • Conduct period review of procedures for technical accuracy and make revisions as necessary
  • Provide training to Mirion staff as required.
  • Perform ongoing review of all software used for dose analysis
  • Oversee/participate in technical studies to evaluate existing and future dosimetry products
  • Participate in LEAN events
  • Performing and documenting the results of special tests, support reports and customer evaluations.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE



  • Education
  • S. in physics, health physics or similar physical science is required.
  • S. in physics, health physics is preferred
  • Skills
  • Work with Excel and other Microsoft products
  • Flexibility in work hours
  • Limited travel
  • Ability to adapt to and manage change
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Understanding of radiation dosimetry principles and regulatory requirements.


PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE



  • Experience with Microshield
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience with statistical software packages e.g., SPSS
  • Experience with MCNP, GEANT or similar


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS



  • American Board of Health Physics eligible preferred


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Requirements



  • May be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to sit and stand while performing reader daily functions
  • May be required to bend and reach while performing reader maintenance
  • May occasionally work with hazardous materials including chemicals and radioactive materials
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sitting at a desk in a cubicle setting or standing to perform reader task.
