The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant. Located in California's Silicon Valley, this facility produces low-to-mid volume New Product Introduction (NPI) runs to full-scale volume. The Fremont facility offers everything from small piece parts to fully integrated and tested systems. In addition, this location offers in-house painting capabilities and flexible logistics solutions in distribution, inventory management and hubbing, as well as repair services.

Job Description: Quality Control Inspector

Location:Fremont, CAShift:1st Shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)

Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring product quality and conformance to specifications through detailed in-process and final inspections. The primary focus is onSurface Mount Technology (SMT) assembliesfor soldering and component integrity. A secondary focus includes electrical andmechanical component inspectionagainst engineering drawings using Schematics and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities



  • Performs visual and dimensional inspection of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • InspectsSMT and pin thru-hole solder joints, component placement, and polarity according toIPC-A-610 workmanship standards.
  • Inspect dimensionfor mechanical components (sheet metal, machined parts) using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and other metrology tools.
  • Reads and interprets complex engineering drawings, assembly drawings, blueprints,Bills of Material (BOM), and specifications.
  • Applies foundational knowledge ofGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)to interpret drawing callouts.
  • Performs detailed First Article Inspections (FAI) and prepares accurate reports.
  • Performs receiving inspection on incoming purchased components and raw materials.
  • Documents all non-conformances found during inspection, issues non-conforming material reports (NCMRs), and segregates defective parts.
  • Applies final QC approval (stamps, labels, stickers) only to verified, conforming products in strict adherence to company policy.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed inspection logs and reports in the quality system.
  • Interfaces with Production and Engineering teams to clearly communicate quality issues.


Qualifications & Skills



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; B.S.degree is preferred.
  • Minimum2-4 years of direct QC inspection experiencein a contract manufacturing (CMS) or electro-mechanical environment. Requires at least 2 years of mixed experience inthe following areas:

    • SMT and thru-hole PCBA inspection.
    • Electro-mechanical assembly inspection.
    • Machined component inspection.


  • Current IPC-A-610(Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) certification isrequired(or must be obtained immediately upon hire).
  • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings,BOMs, and specifications.Foundational knowledge of GD&T is needed but not required.
  • Proficient in the use of standard inspection tools including microscopes (binocular/digital), calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong "first-time-right" quality mindset.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MES systems).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Physical Demands



  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift up to 50 lbs

Salary Range (annual): $49,920 - $54,080 ($24.00 - $26.00)Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.
