Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director, Professional Education (Internal), The Director of Professional Education (Internal) will be responsible for executing Pacira's learning strategy across various commercial and medical functions. They will work closely with the Marketing, Sales, Medical, Regulatory, Compliance leadership to implement commercial and medical educational training programs. The position also works closely with product management to ensure that all marketing materials and programs are translated into training assets and are effectively communicated to the commercial and medical health science teams. This individual will also assist in leading a team of Associate Directors and field-facing Field Trainers to design, implement, and measure high-impact learning experiences that elevate field performance and strengthen clinical market differentiation.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Build upon and manage existing commercial and medical training programs to ensure a high degree of professional selling skills with enhanced product and scientific knowledge of Pacira products.
  • Develop/Conduct/Lead training programs and build learning/development assets that support marketing strategies and identified needs of the Commercial and Medical Field teams, including selling/coaching models, medical procedural areas, and product training for customer-facing field roles, as well as other trainings for the business, as needed.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic and tactical 12-24 month plans to support the short and long-term objectives of the teams from a learning perspective, including new hire training and curriculum, continuing education, advanced learning, and on-the-go learning programs to enhance product, therapeutic area knowledge, and stakeholder understanding.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of Associate Directors focused on implementation and continuous improvement of all training functions across the organization, including and not limited to Foundational (New Hire) training and Advanced Training curriculums.
  • Maintain and develop appropriate training records for all assigned Pacira personnel and managers.
  • Organize and coordinate New Hire training for Commercial and Medical Field personnel, including on-boarding and virtual sessions, in partnership with marketing, clinical, and medical personnel (where applicable).
  • Update materials as appropriate to be consistent with current Commercial and Medical strategies
  • Work with Quality to monitor ComplianceWire assignments for New Hires and existing field personnel
  • Serve as point for Professional Education (Internal) at PCRC (Medical/Legal review process) for all appropriate submissions
  • Evaluate effectiveness of Professional Education (Internal) offerings
  • Works in conjunction with commercial leadership, marketing, and other stakeholders to assist with design, development and facilitation of workshops for National and POA meetings, including developing leaders guides and participant materials.
  • Work with other functional leaders within the commercial organization to create, maintain and drive a culture of collaboration and results orientation.
  • Develop leaders guides and present "Train the Trainer" for the commercial/medical leadership team to train and develop commercial/medical team members.
  • Responding to business needs with ability to develop ad hoc training
  • Assist with the build out of continuous learning platforms to offer flexible just in time learning that caters to individual development needs and minimizes time out of the field
  • Liaise and mentor Field Trainer team, as applicable, to gain field perspective to build appropriate training venues and content
  • Attends regional and national conferences, as needed
  • Assist with the Field Trainer Meetings to build skill and competence for the position as needed
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and actively manage departmental budget
  • Select, develop, and manage relationships with key agency/vendor partners
  • Other projects assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This person will lead members of the Professional Education (Internal) Team.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degree preferred).
  • 10+ years pharmaceutical/biotech field sales experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in learning & development including field training or marketing required
  • Successful track record in field-based leadership position desired
  • Instructional Design experience preferred
  • E-learning authoring, LMS, CRM experience preferred
  • Certified Learning Professional (CLP) a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent ability to deliver presentations to diverse groups of all sizes.
  • Ability to connect with and inspire people.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver sales training programs that promote unwavering adherence to regulatory and compliance rules.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver highly technical, medical product/medical technique education.
  • Proven ability to train trainers and successfully manage field training programs and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player, working across department and divisions in collaborative environment. Ability to work well independently.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated customer service approach
  • Ability to travel swiftly and frequently (50-60% travel) with overnight stays, occasionally including weekend work throughout the year. Proximity to airport - preferred under one hour or 50 miles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms and stoop. Public speaking is an integral part of this position. The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (up to several hours straight). The employee is regularly required to travel by automobile as well as by airplane and other forms of public transportation.

The work setting is a remote office environment. This position requires considerable on-site presence at a typical pharmaceutical corporate environment with offices and cubicles, as well as at meetings and conferences.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this role is $170,000 per year to $210,000. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications
