Reporting to the Sr. Director of IT Applications, the Software Systems Engineer I partners with IT teams and functional units throughout the university system to analyze opportunities and issues. This includes the analysis, documentation, development, deployment, support, and evaluation for a wide variety of IT needs throughout the full lifecycle of system applications used by students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. This role will participate in medium to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements and translating requirements into technical solutions. This role requires strong technical skills as well as excellent communication and relationship management skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, software engineering or a closely related field or equivalent experience required.
  • A minimum of zero to three years of experience in systems design, analysis, and programming.
  • Experience in object-oriented programming, web application development, and designing solutions.
  • Experience in Salesforce flows or Apex development a plus.

    • Experience with Salesforce flows or Apex development a plus.
    • Experience with Power Apps or Power automate a plus.


  • Knowledge of SQL, .NET with C#, & SSIS.
  • Experience implementing and supporting SaaS applications like Salesforce, SharePoint, Canvas.




    Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for new employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $65,735 to $88,936.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Technical



    • Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade purchased software system including but not limited to Salesforce, Anthology Student, SharePoint, or Canvas.
    • Develop maintain and integrate information systems and software between purchased solutions, including opportunity and/or problem identification, analysis, design, testing, and implementation.
    • Collaborate with IT team members to solve business requests and absorb the product and technical capabilities.
    • Strong technical aptitude and ability to logically analyze and creatively solve issues as a team or independently.
    • Develop expertise for the technology services responsible for, along with good analytical judgment in the decisions being made to support the environment.
    • Coordinate release documentation and communication, including training and customer service management.
    • Provide ongoing application support, including change management, incident resolution, enhancements requests, and general end-user support.
    • Propose solutions in line with organization needs for the technical services this role is accountable for.
    • Develop an in-depth understanding of the architecture of the University's enterprise ecosystem and core systems, including the functions and relationships of various subsystems, modules, and underlying data models.
    • Stay abreast of technology trends and changes in the applications and technology services with a focus on the space you are responsible for.


    Project and Relationship Management



    • Consult and liaise with stakeholders to gather and confirm business requirements.
    • Partner with stakeholders to identify and deliver solutions that meet the business requirements and to ensure improved user experiences and reduced cost and time impacts.
    • Utilize and champion agile techniques to deliver on competing requirements.
    • Communicate project and development status to key stakeholders throughout the development process.
    • Represent the IT team in the execution of test plans, ensuring quality software delivery, and partnering with stakeholders to confirm the implementation aligns with the business need.
    • Work as a team with other technical staff to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems
    • Conduct technical research on systems and system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current system.

    Physical Requirements:



    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
    • Must be able to occasionally move around the work location.
    • Constantly operates office and/or teach equipment which may include computers, copiers, fax machines, audio/visuals.
    • Frequently uses voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff, or colleagues face-to-face or over the telephone.
    • Visually or otherwise identify, observe, and assess.
    • Occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
    • Frequently positions self to maintain computer related equipment which may involve bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
