What You'll Do:

Essential Functions Statement(s) * Manage the monthly close, including detailed review of team member work and journal entries * Participate in and direct the internal and external financial reporting process, including management reporting and preparation of financial statements. * Manage direct reports, establish goals and core competencies each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance professional development * Focus on maintaining strong internal controls to ensure integrity of data * Ensure that financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP as well as regulatory and Company policies * Perform technical accounting research and provide guidance to support the Company, including the adoption of relevant accounting standards * Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial accounting and general ledger structure * Support budget and forecasting activities * Significant contributor in determining potential improvements in processes, including monthly close * Lead role in continuous documentation of accounting policies and procedures * Work closely with the Assistant Controller, Corporate Controller, business unit Accounting Managers, Finance Directors, IT and Treasury to ensure collaboration and sharing of critical information * Support the Assistant Controller in leading the interim and annual audit process * Participate in due diligence efforts for acquisition targets and purchase price accounting for closed transactions * Assist with and support rate cases filed in various jurisdictions * Lead the Company's account reconciliation process * Undertake special projects and/or assignments as required by senior management What You'll Bring:
Education: Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Experience: A minimum of six years direct accounting experience requiring a strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP including accounting theory and practice as it relates to accounting systems, policies, procedures and reporting. At least two years of supervisory experience is desired. Public accounting experience is a plus. Computer Skills: SAP experience preferred, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and MS Office Certifications & Licenses: CPA license preferred. Other Requirements: Work is complex and varied; strong interpersonal and written / verbal communications skills; ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure to ensure deadlines are met; requires the interpretation of technical and detailed guidelines and ability to gather, interpret and analyze data.
