Benefits and Compensation Specialist

Administer Leave Programs:

  • Manage qualified leave activities for Non-Partner Attorneys, including FMLA, short-term and long-term disability, and other leave types.
  • Guide assigned employees through the leave process, including documentation, timelines, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Partner with Professional Development and Associate Experience teams to ensure timely and efficient leave coordination.
  • Maintain accurate leave records and ensure compliance with firm policies and applicable laws (e.g., FMLA, state leave programs, ADA).

    Facilitate Benefits Administration:

  • Conduct benefits orientation sessions for Non-Partner Attorneys, including an overview of health, retirement, and wellness offerings.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits programs, policies, and eligibility,
  • ensuring timely and accurate information is provided.
  • Support day-to-day administration of benefits plans, including enrollment, changes, and troubleshooting issues with vendors or systems.

    Administer Compensation Program Activities:

  • Participate in multiple salary and benefits surveys.
  • Maintain and optimize the online market-pricing tool (CompAnalyst) by monitoring integrations, resolving data issues, and supporting vendor relationships.
  • Support the annual salary planning process, including merit increases and related compensation initiatives.

    Coordinate Wellness Program Initiatives:

  • Assist in the planning, development, and execution of firm-wide wellness initiatives and programs.
  • Coordinate logistics for wellness events such as workshops, webinars, fitness challenges, and health screenings.
  • Monitor wellness program participation and engagement; provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support wellness-related communications, including intranet updates and event promotions.

    Support Retirement Plan Operations:

  • Prepare semi-monthly 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan contributions via payroll deductions and upload control totals to the retirement vendor's platform.
  • Collaborate with payroll and vendors to resolve discrepancies.
  • Distribute 401(k) plan information and documents; schedule and facilitate monthly orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Prepare annual statements for the firm's retirement plans.
  • Process compensation and retirement plan-related invoices for review and payment.
  • Review and reconcile reports from the retirement record keeper (e.g., quarterly address maintenance, semi-monthly payroll data audits).
  • ensuring timely and accurate information is provided.

Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; prior compensation experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an administrator or specialist role within HR, benefits, or compensation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and basic formulas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex benefits and compensation concepts into clear, accessible language.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to benefits administration, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, IRC, DOL, FMLA, and ADA.
Demonstrated initiative and drive to improve processes in a high-performing, dynamic environment.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
