Flow Cytometer Systems Field Service Engineer

About the Role:

Location: Must reside in the NYC region

We seek a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer specializing in Flow Cytometer Systems and Cell Sorting equipment. You will provide technical support, repairs, and troubleshooting in clinical environments, working closely with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.

What You'll Do:
  • Install, modify, maintain, and repair flow cytometer systems, cell sorting equipment, and related laboratory instrumentation.

  • Configure and support digital products, middleware, and instrumentation integrations.

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues onsite or remotely, replacing parts as needed.

  • Maintain accurate service records in compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate problem resolution to minimize downtime and maximize customer satisfaction.

  • Manage company assets, including tools, parts, and inventory.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between customers and the company, ensuring clear communication.

  • Support cross-departmental collaboration to improve service efficiency.

  • Perform corrective maintenance, installations, and performance assurance within targeted timelines.

  • Associate Degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field preferred.

  • 2-3 years of service and customer-facing experience; 1 year in engineering, medical, or science-related environments preferred.

  • Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and familiarity with automation/robotics systems.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Office, and PC/network troubleshooting.

  • Ability to work independently, adapt to new technologies, and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Experience in equipment calibration, data gathering, and service goal monitoring.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Hospital/medical settings with potential exposure to hazardous agents (customer will advise prior to service).

  • Frequent contact with electrical equipment and use of standard office and medical tools.

  • Driving 1-4 hours daily; occasional overnight travel by air/train.

  • Flexible schedule with possible overtime, weekend work, and on-call rotation.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally (with assistance).

  • Regular standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching; occasional twisting and crawling.

  • Use of PPE as required (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc.)

Salary Range Requirement

Actual annual compensation offered will be based on several variables including geographic location, work experience, education and skills/ achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.

  • Qualified candidates can expect a salary beginning at $87,000 or more depending on experience
