Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of the Position |
The Department of History, Politics, and Social Justice at Winston-Salem State University is seeking to hire adjunct faculty to teach Justice Studies and Political Science courses that are vital for its program/cognate to aid the 2025-2026 academic year.
The department seeks exceptional candidates with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence, advising mentoring undergraduate research, interdisciplinary teaching and research collaboration, engagement with the broader public, and service to the community.
Successful candidate must have at least a Master's degree in Justice Studies/Criminal Justice/Political Science or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching "Research Methods, Victimology, Senior Seminar and varied law related courses" |

The Department of History, Politics and Social Justice seeks to enrich the minds of our students by providing them with programs/courses that will strengthen their minds. These positions are needed to fulfill the vital requirement for our programs. These adjuncts are responsible for teaching:
- Comparative World History: Gender
- African American History: 1865- present;
- African American Material/Methods
- Intro to Global History

| Minimum Experience/Education |
Master's Degree or higher in Justice Studies, Political Science or related field, from an accredited institution, and at least 18 graduate hours in Justice Studies/Political Science by the time of appointment.
The candidate must also have excellent communication/interpersonal skills and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational environment.

Required education summary for the Justice Studies courses:
- Master's Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Political Science or a closely related field, from an accredited institution (Ph.D. preferred).
- Candidate should possess one year of college-level or more of successful teaching experience preferred.
- Three years or more of experience with SPSS products and Canvas LMS platform.
- Ph.D. or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in Justice Studies, Political Science, or a related field by the time of appointment.
- Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience teaching "Research Methods, Victimology, Senior Seminar and varied law related courses"
- Experience teaching Research Methods, Senior Seminar, Victimology, Criminal, Administrative & Constitutional Law courses.
- Ability to teach in a Historically Black Institution, sensitivity to the issues of social justice confronting minority groups in the United States and around the world; an experienced, self-disciplined, compassionate professional who can act as a role model for our students by inspiring them to excel as they confront social justice issues.
- Strong commitment to student learning and engagement
