Major/Essential Functions

The Administrative Investigator manages the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the university's Title IX compliance obligations for responding to Title IX reports/complaints by collecting the relevant facts and evidence related to the reported incident. The Investigator will work closely with departments across campus to facilitate timely response and investigations.

Conduct comprehensive investigations into incidents of gender based discrimination and harassment, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other actions against members of the University community, such as relationship violence, stalking, and physical assault. Generate thorough, reliable, impartial, and timely investigation reports for submission to the designated University decision-making body, ensuring a timely, efficient, equitable and effective response to complaints.

Ensure a well-documented investigation process, working with the appropriate University offices in the course of investigations, maintaining accurate and thorough investigatory files and reports, and providing ongoing updates to the Title IX Coordinator. Partner with other University offices and community resources, such as the Office of Student Conduct, Risk Intervention and Safety Education (RISE) Office, and Center for Campus Life / Dean of Students Office throughout investigative process.

Understand and follow established University policies and procedures, as well as all state and federal guidance related to Title IX obligations and response. Remain knowledgeable of current Title IX, Clery, EEO, and VAWA requirements; state and federal law and regulations; and trends in the field of higher education related to harassment and other discriminatory practices that violate federal law. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with FERPA and other state, federal, and institutional student record policies.

Perform dispute resolution (including informal resolution or administrative hearings) services for any Title IX-related concern. Meet with any student, faculty, staff, parent, or other campus community member who has a student-related concern.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil rights laws and investigation, in particular Title IX, Title VII, Clery Act, EEO, and VAWA.
  • Demonstrated understanding of dynamics of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Working in a higher education setting, with particular experience working on investigation of sex or gender-based discrimination.
  • Title IX-related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or other advanced degree in a related field. Demonstrated knowledge of civil rights laws and investigation, in particular Title IX, Title VII, Clery Act, EEO, and VAWA. Demonstrated understanding of dynamics of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking. Experience working in a higher education setting, with particular experience working on investigation of sex or gender-based discrimination. Title IX-related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
