Job Summary: The Manager-Patient Business Office (PBO) sets and enforces operational policies, procedures and guidelines. Maintains effective communication with internal teams, insurance carriers and other partners to resolve issues that impede cash flow and detract from patient satisfaction. Monitors quality and productivity through reporting, identifies trends and operational deficiencies, and manages corrective action plans as necessary to ensure successful outcomes. Manages and optimizes standardized workflows across the billing/collections process and solution capabilities. Seeks to understand disagreements, ensure all perspectives are heard and facilitate a plan for resolution. Delegates the work appropriately, provides clear expectations and follows up to ensure progress and overcome roadblocks. Identifies team priorities based on business direction and adjust when needed. Leads by example and share knowledge and experiences with the team. Creates a respectful work environment where you advocate for your team, create accountability and recognize their accomplishments. Provides timely feedback to encourage success and ensure accountability. Identify the right talent to achieve the desired results. Promotes and build a diverse cohesive team to accomplish objectives. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field required. Minimum three years of patient financial services experience required. Minimum one year of supervisory experience required. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Knowledge and Skills: Effective and efficient organization and planning skills; ability to manage complex multi-workstream performance improvement projects while delegating and overseeing the work of junior team members. Proven analytical and critical thinking skills required to synthesize complex data sets and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and trends to implement recommendations resulting in measurable performance improvement and successful organizational change. Ability to read and interpret documents such as managed care contracts, billing manuals, billing bulletins, CMS Program Memorandums, safety documents, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand business challenges, adapt implementation methodologies and approaches to ensure results align with client's business objectives. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access); operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, rules and laws; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
