The Peer Counselor position works with peers to provide support through education, resources, and community integration, promoting the recovery process.
Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Function: Works with multidisciplinary staff to assist individuals with vocational, social, and life skills on-site and in the community. -Meets one-on-one with members to provide support around members' mental health recovery process while setting appropriate limits and professional boundaries. -Receives one-on-one every week from program supervisory staff to provide guidance and support to the peer counselor as he/she interfaces with members. -Participates in weekly team meetings to provide updates, set goals, and outline action plans for team members. -Peer Counselor has access to members' personal history; therefore, CONFIDENTIALITY is a must. - Individually leads/facilitates groups to provide support and guidance to members. -Uses his/her own recovery experience as a framework to understand and support members in their own recovery journey and process his/her own recovery experience professionally, consistently observing appropriate limits/boundaries, including those supported by the Peer Specialist certification training. -Complete required documentation in a timely fashion. - Inspire hope by modeling personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and wellness.
