Position Summary
The Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at the University of New Mexico (UNM) is seeking a full-time Physiatrist with expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation medicine. This role is a critical component of the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation's (PM&R) ongoing expansion and will support both clinical services and academic training. The successful candidate will provide outpatient MSK and interventional pain care, supervise residents and medical students, and contribute to the curriculum of the PM&R Residency Program. This four-year categorical program requires robust exposure to musculoskeletal, pain, and interventional rehabilitation, making this position essential to maintaining ACGME compliance and strengthening residency training. We are seeking candidates who are board-certified (or eligible) in PM&R. With a catchment population of over 800,000 and very little competition, the UNM hospital is a 618-bed, Level 1 trauma center servicing a state with a very strong need for PM&R services. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- U.S. Board certified or board eligible in PM&R
- Eligible for licensure in the state of New Mexico
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training or experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation medicine
- Demonstrated interest and experience in resident and medical student
education - Track record of scholarly activity or academic contributions
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and
varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
