The Vice President, Corporate Development serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the company's long-term growth strategy through mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and portfolio optimization.

This leader will drive the organization's inorganic growth agenda, partnering with division presidents, finance, operations, and the executive team to identify opportunities that expand market share, enhance capabilities, and create shareholder value.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and results-oriented dealmaker with a proven record of successfully leading M&A and corporate development activities within complex, multi-business industrial or distribution environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise Strategy & Growth Leadership



  • Partner with the CEO, CFO, and Executive Leadership Team to define and prioritize the company's long-term growth strategy, including acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and potential divestitures.
  • Lead the evaluation of strategic adjacencies, new markets, and diversification opportunities that align with enterprise priorities.
  • Serve as a thought partner in shaping portfolio strategy, capital allocation, and long-range planning.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of industry dynamics, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in the LBM and broader building materials sectors.


Deal Origination & Execution



  • Oversee the end-to-end M&A process, from pipeline development and target outreach through valuation, negotiation, and integration.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with target company executives, investment bankers, private equity firms, and industry leaders to source opportunities.
  • Lead investment committee presentations, ensuring rigorous financial, operational, and cultural assessment of each opportunity.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, and division teams to negotiate deal terms, structure, and closing conditions.


Integration & Value Realization



  • Ensure seamless post-close integration planning and execution in collaboration with business and functional leaders.
  • Monitor and measure synergy realization and performance against deal models.
  • Establish consistent processes, playbooks, and governance frameworks for due diligence and integration management.


Team & Organizational Leadership



  • Lead and develop a high-performing Corporate Development team, including M&A, integration, and strategic development professionals.
  • Foster a culture of analytical excellence, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Serve as a visible enterprise leader who models partnership across functions and champions disciplined, data-driven decision making.


Governance & Stakeholder Engagement



  • Manage corporate development reporting and communications for the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal policies, external regulations, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Partner closely with Investor Relations and Corporate Communications to support messaging related to strategic growth initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.




  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Strategy, with a minimum of 7 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex M&A transactions in industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or building materials sectors.
  • Proven experience advising or influencing executive leadership and Boards on strategic investments.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking with strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to balance big-picture vision with rigorous operational and financial discipline.
  • Executive presence, credibility, and communication skills suited for C-suite and Board engagement.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and judgment in managing sensitive information.
