Traveling Machine Operator

STS Technical Services is hiring Traveling Machine Operators in Brookville, Pennsylvania. This position plays a key role in forming metallic parts to blueprint specifications using conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience in metal forming, and a commitment to safety and quality.

• Work collaboratively with mentors and team members to resolve production challenges.
  
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all work performed.
  
• Enter data into job tracking and quality software systems.
  
• Recall programs and set up established processes for machining operations.
  
• Load and prepare cranes and lifting devices as required.
  
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
  
• Choose correct tooling for machining operations and perform simple editing processes effectively.
  
• Load and prepare parts for machining according to specifications.
  
• Measure and produce parts to blueprint standards using inspection tools.
  
• Record measurements and understand the effect of tolerances on part function and quality.
  
• Install machined replacement parts and test systems for proper operation and performance.
  
• Plan and perform machining and bench operations safely and efficiently.
  
• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on machines and tools.
  

• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  
• Must be able to read, see, hear, and speak English clearly.
  
• Frequent physical exertion required, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  
• May operate cranes, forklifts, and other machinery as needed.
  
• Work is performed in a warehouse and fabrication shop environment with exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noise.
  
• Occasional exposure to outdoor elements, including heat and cold.
  
• Must use a variety of tools, including hand tools, saws, grinders, mills, lathes, bending tools, and drill presses.
  
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toed boots (provided by the company except boots).
  
• Must adhere to all company safety procedures and participate in ongoing safety training.
  

Education:

• 
  

  High School Diploma or GED required

  
  

Experience:

• 
  

  1-2 years of related experience or training preferred

  
  

Other Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  
• Skilled in program recall and established process setup.
  
• Proficient in selecting and securing holding fixtures, attachments, and materials.
  
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  
• Capable of detecting machine malfunctions and adjusting controls as needed.
  
• Flexible with working hours and overtime requirements.
  
• Proficient in mathematical calculations used in machining.
  
• Experienced in installation and testing of machined parts to ensure quality performance.
  

• 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
  
• 3rd Shift: 5:30 PM - 3:00 AM
  
• Work hours subject to change when overtime is required.
