North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a SBA Business Development Officer. The SBA Business Development Officer develops, evaluates and submits Small Business Loan applications in order to fund SBA and USDA Business & Industry loans for North State Bank. ***Candidates must reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi or Tennessee for consideration.***

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Generates new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals.
  • Generates loans that maintain an acceptable level of performance. Assists Bank's Servicing Department in any requested servicing action.
  • Develops and implements marketing activities. Also works with the Director of Government Lending to develop and implement marketing plans.
  • Develops and maintains a referral source database for the Bank's overall SBA marketing purposes.
  • Maintains and applies a thorough understanding of the Bank's credit policy, SBA eligibility and all necessary business practices to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan application packages.
  • Provides senior management with input regarding current policies and practices.
  • Assists the Bank in the promotion of all product lines offered in assigned market.
  • Follow the loan throughout the process until closing by assisting the underwriting and processing staff.
  • Completes all Business Development Officer loan submission forms and spreads.
  • Monitors and provides potential loan status updates to management via timely and accurate daily updates to the North State Bank pipeline system.
  • Provides the highest level of customer service to borrowers, Underwriters and Processors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Includes education, certifications, experience, etc.):

  • Bachelor's Degree in business management, finance or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of government lending experience in a community bank or similar financial services industry
  • Sound knowledge of government lending regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, acute attention to details, and tactfulness.
  • Ability to work as a team is imperative.
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle stressful situations.
