What to Expect
Tesla is seeking skilled Engineering Technicians to join the Cell Manufacturing Quality Team. This role focuses on supporting production operations through process development and equipment improvement. A strong eagerness to learn, adaptability, and effective communication skills will be essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.
What You'll Do
- Adhere to company safety and conduct policies while maintaining a safe work environment
- Operate and troubleshoot manufacturing processes using SPC or other data analysis tools
- Ensure process stability and quality of production output at assigned stations
- Develop, maintain, and implement process changes, control plans, and manufacturing instructions
- Escalate issues to shift supervisors, managers, and quality teams as needed
- Support engineering activities, including process and equipment validations
- Train and guide associates on equipment operation, processes, and IPQC inspections while collaborating with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to improve key process metrics
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in a pilot or production setting
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics as well as engineering drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, command of English language, both written and verbal
- Experience with SPC, process capability, and gauge R&R interpretation
- Knowledge of Minitab or JMP as an advantage
- Familiarity with SQL/DBeaver, Python, or Jupyter Notebook as an advantage
- Understanding of basic material fabrication, CAD, and GD&T as an advantage
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day on varied and uneven terrain including concrete surfaces
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Must be able to frequently and repetitively lift/carry 30 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. infrequently
- Frequently and repetitively push heavy carts and dollies
- The ability to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down flights of stairs multiple times a day
- Ability to identify issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Follow all safety rules and guidelines including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing the above-mentioned activities
- Ability to correctly wear respiratory protection such as half and full-face respirators, if required, for up to 12 hours/day
