The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Section II: Summary of Job Function The Senior Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups includes geriatrics, adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal, The Senior Pharmacy Technician also assists the Pharmacist and Manager in the preparation of new referrals, insurance verification, prior authorizations, adjudication, and functions as patient liaison, Work and/or performance shall conform to written established policies and procedures, activities, Section III: Job Qualifications Education/Training/Certification/Licensure: High School graduate or equivalent, Associates degree preferred, Registered with the Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of start date Experience: One year of pharmacy experience which includes: Knowledge of specialty medications Insurance verification Prior authorization processing Managing and coordinating referrals Patient financial assistance Successful completion of all orientations, Work Environment and Hazards: Pharmacy, nursing staff, delivery and billing staff, Special Physical Demands: Must meet requirements of the ADA 1,Understands and adheres to the company policy and requirements, EG: Snow day and sick time 2. Arrives to work on time: No tardies 3. Understands and participates on different committees or plans, 4. Willing to be cross-trained to work or assist in other areas, Helps co-workers when appropriate, 5. Willingness and flexible to work alternating work schedules on short notice, Will support management and do what is asked, 6. Completes insurance verification to ensure proper billing, 7. Responsible for tracking the return of paperwork sent w/ new referral, General consent, Billing, etc, 8. Responsible for managing patient s profile by entering all information accurately and updating profiles when necessary, 9. Process new referrals by gathering patient information, documentation and coordinating deliveries, 10. Assist pharmacist with prior authorization process, 11. Acting as patient liaison between clinic and pharmacy, 12. Responsible for handling patient concerns that come thru the ACD phone system, 13. Ensure all prescriptions adjudicate correctly, covering cost of medication, 14. Assist patient s with obtaining financial assistance copay cards, grants, foundations, government aide, 15. Initiates compliance refill calls on a weekly basis, 16. Responsible for contacting patient to schedule new prescriptions sent in from clinics, 17. Keep referral workflow log up to date, 18.
