The Position The Opportunity

The Strategic Change Leadership Lead, Director is a key member of the Strategy & Activation team, working across Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG). This role drives the successful adoption of strategic initiatives and organizational capabilities by applying deep expertise in change leadership, organizational effectiveness, and team effectiveness.

As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, you will shape and execute change strategies that enable cross-functional alignment, innovation, and sustainable performance. You'll foster a culture of resilience, adaptability, and continuous improvement, ensuring that change becomes a lasting competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities Strategy Development & Execution
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought leader, guiding transformational and incremental change within CMG functions.

  • Balance strategic partnership with hands-on execution, leading teams through the design and delivery of change initiatives.

  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify change readiness, gaps, and opportunities, and develop mitigation strategies to drive sustainable results.

Change Capability & Culture Activation
  • Lead the activation of CMG-wide strategic initiatives that embed shared mindsets and behaviors, ensuring adoption and sustained impact with senior leadership support.

  • Embed core behavior shifts that bring CMG's Value to life by cultivating the Change Leadership Capabilities curriculum - focused on:

    • Role Modeling Change (responsibility and accountability, decision making, shifting from "me" to "we")

    • Leading Change (creating psychological safety, managing productive conflict, addressing resistance)

    • Communicating Change (connecting hearts and minds, leveraging change accelerators).

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, department heads, and key stakeholders across the CMG teams to ensure alignment and buy-in for change initiatives.

  • Actively partner with Learning & Skill Development (L&SD), People & Culture (P&C), and Communications partners to manage the sequence and flow of information, training, and accountability.

  • Leverage an indirect network of change champions across the organization to scale change actions and narratives and support change adoption and sustainability.

Implementation and Monitoring
  • Monitor the effectiveness of change management initiatives, track progress against metrics, and provide regular updates to senior leadership, demonstrating business impact.

  • Establish mechanisms for continuous improvement, capturing lessons learned, feedback, and data-driven insights to refine approaches and enhance future change initiatives.

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in organizational development, strategic initiative execution, transformation programs, or business operations within a complex, matrixed environment, with a strong emphasis on leading large-scale organizational change.

  • Deep expertise in organizational change management, championing change in a positive way with demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional cultural initiatives from strategy to implementation.

  • Proven track record of sustained organizational impact and successfully executing change management strategies in complex and rapidly changing environments.

  • Proficient in coaching senior leadership teams and demonstrated expertise and experience in team coaching or systemic practice (e.g., Certified Coach, Systemic or Team Coach preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or professional certification in Change Management (e.g., CCMP, Prosci ADKAR, Kotter's Change Management Model).

  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or similar regulated industries is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $156,500/yr to $290,700/yr . Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
