The Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice offers unparalleled training for future careers in pharmacy, with the goal of training students in the classroom and in the field to improve our society's health and well-being. The faculty are clinical pharmacists involved in collaborative research across a range of foci, such as new drug clinical trials, drug adherence research, pharmacokinetics, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenomics, pharmacoeconomics, and outcomes research. The department is one of two departments in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.


Your Role on the Team

Reporting to the Department Operations Manager, the Department Administrator uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan, and administer the operations of a mid-sized academic department in support of the department's academic and research programs. Administrative operations include budgetary financial management, human resources, academic personnel, research, IT, facilities, student affairs, assessment, curriculum, events, and communications related to the department. Performs short- and long-term planning for the organization, ensuring alignment with strategic plans of the department and school. Researches solutions and provides recommendations, showing good judgement. Proactively identifies opportunities for faculty (e.g., research or media relations), and provides day-to-day support to faculty to resolve a wide range of requests. May supervise staff and/or students.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 6 to 9 years of relevant experience

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
