Job Summary

Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics is seeking a strategic and innovative leader to join our team as the Director of Business Development for our Advanced Concepts Group.

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Growth, this position will oversee the development and execution of advanced technology initiatives, ensuring that Leonardo DRS Naval Electronics remains at the forefront of naval defense advancements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the Advanced Concepts team in identifying and developing innovative technologies relevant to our Naval Electronics' customers.
  • Coordinate research and development activities, fostering collaboration between departments, external partners, and end-users.
  • Drive the conceptualization and prototyping of advanced technologies, ensuring projects align with the company's strategic goals.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new concepts and technologies.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence within the Advanced Concepts team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Master's and/or PhD degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in maritime technology, defense and aerospace, or other related field.
  • Strong understanding of deploying naval defense technologies and systems to the market
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of adaptability
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Additional Desired Skills
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and Autonomous Systems
  • Knowledge of Maritime Electronic Warfare and Cyber Defense strategies
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in the defense industry

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The salary range for this position is ($215,000/year- $250,000). This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
