The Senior Product Manager - Technical Platforms is a strategic and technically fluent product leader responsible for defining and executing the roadmap for a complex, technology-driven product domain within Optum's Payment Integrity suite. This role ensures product vision and system design move in lockstep - aligning business priorities with scalable, high-quality technical delivery.

You'll own the roadmap for a core product or platform, guiding strategy, execution, and performance across multiple agile teams. Acting as the bridge between product strategy and engineering execution, you will collaborate with Product, Engineering, AI/ML, and Analytics partners to deliver intelligent, reliable solutions that drive measurable value for clients and internal users.

This is a high-impact, hybrid role for a leader who thrives at the intersection of business, data, and technology -combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery oversight to bring innovative solutions to life.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Set Direction and Drive Execution
    • Translate product strategy into actionable technical roadmaps and delivery plans
    • Prioritize and manage the product backlog across delivery teams, ensuring alignment to business goals
    • Balance innovation, scalability, and technical debt reduction
    • Partner with engineering and architecture to align technical decisions with long-term platform goals
  • Lead Product Development
    • Guide TPMs and cross-functional teams through delivery cycles from backlog refinement to release
    • Ensure product releases meet quality, performance, and compliance standards
    • Monitor delivery velocity and outcomes, using metrics and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement
    • Anticipate and mitigate delivery risks, dependencies, and capacity constraints
  • Collaborate Across Business and Technology
    • Partner with Product, Engineering, AI/ML, and Analytics teams to deliver high-impact, data-driven capabilities
    • Serve as the connector between business stakeholders and technical teams to align scope, intent, and outcomes
    • Maintain transparency and shared accountability through proactive communication across leadership and delivery partners
  • Optimize Product and Platform Performance
    • Define and track KPIs for product adoption, performance, scalability, and ROI
    • Analyze data and user feedback to identify optimization and prioritize investments
    • Champion technical excellence through consistent measurement of uptime, responsiveness, and release quality
  • Build and Develop Teams
    • Mentor TPMs and delivery leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning
    • Encourage experimentation and data-driven decision-making to accelerate delivery and innovation

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, platform development, or technical delivery
  • 5+ years of experience working with technology-focused products or platforms (AI, analytics, or enterprise systems)
  • 4+ years of experience leading cross-functional agile teams and managing complex initiatives
  • 3+ years of experience with system design, APIs, data architecture, and scalable platform development
  • 3+ years of experience translating business strategy into technical execution plans
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile and Scrum delivery processes, with proficiency in tools such as Jira, Rally, or Aha!
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into technical execution plans
  • Demonstrated solid analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent experience in business strategy, technology, or product management
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical product managers or agile delivery teams
  • Experience in healthcare, payment integrity, or claims management systems
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and microservice architecture
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
