This holistic model ensures older adults receive the support they need-physically, emotionally, and socially-with services tailored to their evolving needs.

Our wide-ranging programs include assisted senior living and memory care, home-delivered meals, transportation, legal services, adult day services and respite care, care management and coordination, counseling and support groups for older adults and caregivers, Holocaust Community Services, and lifelong learning and engagement opportunities.

CJE SeniorLife Affordable Housing Services offer 4 buildings that are affordable or offered at below market rates through HUD Section 8. The rental rate depends on a family's gross income. Rentals include studios, one-bedroom apartments, and two-bedroom apartments. Many locations offer group activities and in-building events. Our facilities are Swartzberg House (on Touhy in Rogers Park), Krasnow Residence (on Demster in Skokie), Village Center (on Oakton in Skokie), and Robineau Residence (on Howard in Skokie). We are part of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.

The Life Enrichment Liaison assists in the daily operation of the building by managing phones, completing documentation, and providing other written communications as assigned. Additionally, this position assists with resident dining operations and plays a vital part in organizing and coordinating activities and programs. Reporting to the Building Manager and the Manager of Community Engagement, the Life Enrichment Liaison fosters resident engagement and works effectively with volunteers to enhance program availability.

Compensation: $52,000 per year.

Shift: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Union status: Dues-paying membership in Service Employees International Union Local 73 is a condition of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Manages the phones and responds to Resident requests and concerns.
  • Plans and implements appropriate activities designed to reduce isolation; engage residents; build community and increase resident mental and physical activity levels.
  • Plans and organizes special events, e.g. birthday parties, religious and holiday activities as assigned and under the supervision of the Community Engagement Manager with input from the Building Manager.
  • Assists with Resident dining, such as meal orders, menu feedback, and setting up of meal services.
  • Sets up and assists during meal services.
  • Cleans the dining room.
  • Maintains a professional representation of the organization in all programs and interactions.
  • Supports coordinating volunteer schedules, confirming volunteer hours related to programs, and assists with on-site guidance for volunteers.
  • Accompanies residents on off-site outings, ensuring safety and well-being.
  • Encourages and initiates small-group activities; providing support and empowering residents to start and maintain resident-led groups and activities.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly calendar of events and informative information.
  • Assists in the design of flyers for activities and events
  • Provides new resident orientation to the building.
  • Assists in evaluation of the effectiveness of activities by providing regular feedback to the Community Engagement and Building Managers.
  • Monitors inventory of supplies and equipment, and orders when necessary.
  • Attends meetings and in-services as required.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience



  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in working with the elderly or a special population in a residential setting preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, and customer service are strongly preferred in this position.
  • Basic computer skills, including Word and Excel, are required.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
