The opportunity

The activity of a Financial Aid Risk Mitigator (FARM) is crucial in ensuring the integrity of the delivery of federal student aid and decreasing the potential of student loan default and fraud to mitigate risk for the University and our learners. The Financial Aid Risk Mitigator also assists identity theft claimants and Federal Student Loan Servicers with reporting and researching identity theft claims. FARMs review Secondary Confirmation (SC) files, transcript waivers, identification and resolution of discrepant information, and determination of possible fraudulent activities and processing Identity Theft claims, Lender Requests and assisting with data collection for reporting to the Department of Education's Office of Inspector General (OIG). Additionally, FARMs are members of the SAP Appeals Review Committee.

This is a remote friendly position (#LI-Remote). You will report to the Financial Integrity Team Lead.

In this Role:

  • You will provide expert support to learners by managing, assessing, and resolving learner accounts through phone and email.
  • You will communicate with learners, responding and resolving accounts within the set service level agreement ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • You will review SC files daily as they are identified in the Secondary Confirmation processes.
  • You will identify risk factors associated with fraudulent activity and take the necessary steps to determine whether SC selection is warranted.
  • You will use "Subject Matter Expert" knowledge in the review of all student documents.
  • You will collect data requested by the OIG for their investigations or for reporting the potentially fraudulent accounts identified by SNHU that have failed the Secondary Confirmation process to the OIG
  • You will be a member of the SAP Appeal Review Committee.
  • You will use judgment in the review of student accounts.
  • You will ensure consistency in making decisions that impact a student's eligibility for federal financial aid and their ability to attend Southern New Hampshire University.
  • You will consistently meet all FARM Team metrics.
  • You will voice opinions in team settings using a professional and positive approach.
  • You will maintain confidentiality and integrity of SNHU students and data.
  • You will need to be punctual and reliable in this role.
  • You may have other tasks that may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

What we're Looking For:

  • Employment is dependent upon successful access to the National Student Loan Data System, which requires all federal student loans to be in good standing; a credit check will be done to ensure that student loans are not in default
  • HSD/GED and 9+ months of experience in Financial Aid
  • Accept coaching and direction from you leaders
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving and analytical skills, along with the ability to prioritize among competing tasks
  • Positive and customer-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work independently and with others

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $19.19 - $30.70. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $21.21 - $28.69.
