Job Description:

Dynamo Technologies is seeking an Application Developer to support the USDA Forest Service Application Development Branch with the modernization and sustainment of the National Cruise applications - the tools foresters use to collect and manage timber measurement data.

This role will focus primarily on completing the conversion of the FSCruiser mobile application from Xamarin to .NET MAUI, ensuring long-term usability, security, and compatibility with Android devices used in the field. The developer will also provide ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) support for the broader National Cruise (Legacy Cruise) application suite.

Duties/ Responsibilities




  • Complete the conversion of FSCruiser from Xamarin to .NET MAUI by the target completion date of August 2026.


  • Develop, test, and deploy code updates to support modernization and security compliance.


  • Provide operations and maintenance support for National Cruise applications, including lifecycle updates, patching, and minor enhancements.


  • Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported issues from the field, which may include debugging and data analysis.


  • Collaborate with federal product owners and developers to plan, prioritize, and execute modernization activities.


  • Ensure compliance with federal IT security, accessibility (Section 508), and configuration management requirements.


  • Maintain clear technical documentation for updates, fixes, and new features.



Required Skills/Abilities




  • Proficiency in .NET MAUI and prior experience with Xamarin mobile application development.


  • Strong skills in C#, mobile UI/UX development, and debugging.


  • Experience deploying and maintaining Android mobile applications.


  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.


  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles and secure coding standards.


  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.


  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, agile environment with both government and contractor teams.

  • U.S Citizenship required


Nice to Have Skills




  • Experience supporting field data collection or natural resource management applications.


  • Knowledge of USDA Forest Service systems, data workflows, or mission context.


  • Familiarity with SQL Server or SQLite database integration for mobile and desktop systems.


  • Experience with application modernization projects, especially legacy-to-modern framework conversions.


  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and provide end-user support.



Education and Experience:



  • 3+ years of development experience

  • Bachelor of Science in IT, Software Engineering, or a related field

    (If no degree, then 7+ years of development experience is required)

Salary Range:

90-95k annually
