High Voltage Charging Controls Technical Specialist

The High Voltage Charging Controls Technical Specialist will lead the development of supervisory charging and discharging (vehicle-to-load, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-vehicle) algorithms and strategies for the next generation of Stellantis electrified vehicles. The ideal candidate has a strong background in vehicle power electronics or battery systems with a deep interest in designing control strategies that empower the best-in-class products.

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:



  • Lead the definition and design of high voltage charging controls concepts and functions
  • Champion identifying and executing best practices in control design
  • Lead verification of control algorithms against functional requirements employing methods of model-in-the -loop, hardware-in-the-loop, subsystem test, and vehicle test
  • Lead definition and simulation of charging control use cases and simulation activities
  • Interface with various stakeholders across the high voltage energy management functional domain and contribute to the definition of functional objectives and requirements

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related degree with a minimum of eight years of experience in electrified control systems or related.
    OR
  • Master of Science degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with five years of electrified control systems or related experience.
    OR
  • PhD in Engineering with focus on automotive controls or power electronics and two years of electrified control systems or related experience.
  • Broad understanding of control theory
  • Proficiency in developing algorithms using MATLAB and Simulink
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong overall knowledge of vehicle and powertrain functions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Demonstrating one or more of the following qualifications will help the candidate stand out among peers:

    • Knowledge of automotive communication network protocols
    • Knowledge of optimization and optimal control theory
    • Knowledge of electric vehicle charging standards
    • Experience in developing energy-oriented plant models of powertrain high voltage systems such as batteries, inverters, and chargers
