DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will be responsible for supervising inmate work crews in the performance of assignments while maintaining proper security and compliance with all policies, processes, and procedures. Duties will involve maintaining efficient operations of three water tube boilers, inclusive of utilizing manual and automatic control operation systems, interpreting meters and gauges, performing scheduled and non-routine maintenance and operational assessments, cleaning equipment, and making minor repairs to ensure proper functionality. Within this role, you will operate and maintain auxiliary equipment such as feedwater pumps, condensate pumps, chemical feed pumps, forced draft fans, and control equipment, in addition to testing boiler water chemistry and the water softening system. Detailed logs must be maintained surrounding testing and inventory of water treatment chemicals, reagents, and supplies needed for testing. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 40 hours/week
- Work hours to be determined, based upon operational needs:
- 2nd shift: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a shift differential of $1.25 per hour
- 3rd shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Thursday - Monday, with a shift differential of $1.15 per hour
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). However, a higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
