What to Expect
We are looking for a skilled Fire Alarm/Suppression Technician to join our team for the Cathode project at GFTX, Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems. The technician will ensure that all systems are compliant with local codes, regulations, and company standards.

What You'll Do
  • Install, inspect and configure fire alarm systems and components within the facility, ensuring they meet all safety and regulatory requirements
  • Repair, replace and service fire alarm system equipment as needed if/when new troubles become present within system
  • Assist with Fire Marshal final walks and commissioning of all fire systems within the Cathode project
  • Install, inspect and configure sprinkler piping, sprinkler heads, and other system components
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of portable and wheeled unit fire extinguishers
  • Accurately complete service reports, inspection forms, and maintenance logs, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams and in house operations teams for fire alarm response in false alarm and real fire applications

What You'll Bring
  • 3 years of experience in the installation, maintenance and service of fire protection systems
  • Proficient in fire protection system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as basic knowledge of fire protection systems
  • Proficient in sprinkler piping, valve and sprinkler head installation
  • Proficient in understanding programming aspect of fire alarm systems. Notifier certified preferred
  • Proficient in NFPA72, NFPA70, IFC and IBC codes and RME-I, FAL, and FEL required
  • Command of the English language both written and verbal

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable working in tight spaces
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the day
  • Must be capable of bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lying on the ground intermittently
  • Must be willing to wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or in a suspended position
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to utilize hand tools and power tools as needed
