Description
The clinical nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients using the nursing process in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. The clinical nurse performs in the professional role as described by the American Nurses Association (ANA); engaging in activities related to ethics, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality improvement, leadership, collaboration, professional practice evaluation , resources utilization, environmental health, and patient advocacy as appropriate to clinical nursing practice. Duties as a Hemapheresis Nurse include but are not limited to assessing donor eligibility for stem cell collection according to defined criteria, performing therapeutic apheresis procedures, and performing peripheral blood progenitor cell collections utilizing venous access and central line catheter access according to standard operating procedures. Performing inpatient apheresis procedures using mobile apheresis equipment and transfusing blood and blood components. Under direct supervision of the Hemapheresis Manager. Salary Range: $67.02-$101.40 Qualifications
Current CA RN license required BSN required. BLS certification required 2 years or greater of RN experience required Adult and pediatric experience preferred 2 years of recent therapeutic apheresis, acute dialysis, or ICU experience preferred Skill in performing venipuncture and access of central venous catheters Demonstrate competency in managing acutely ill patients and demonstrate accurate patient assessment using age appropriate skills Ability to maintain positive working relationships with all team members. Strong oral and written communication skills. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using English words and numbers; skill in writing to maintain accurate records Able to work rapidly and accurately with attention to detail Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments Ability to manage a busy schedule and to make changes in assignment according to changing priorities Must be highly flexible with ability to work weekends, holidays, work overtime, and take on-call assignments at UCLA - Westwood and Santa Monica Hospitals. Ability to work safely in an environment with variations in temperature, instrument noise, usage of toxic or hazardous chemicals, fumes, odors, and biological agents, and interaction with sick patients Ability to access work areas and to perform essential job functions Ability to perform activities such as moving apheresis blood cell separators and supply carts to the patient's bedside; transportation of reagents, blood products, or supplies as required Ability to move and lift patients and restock supplies using proper body mechanics Ability to push, pull, bend, and stoop Ability to perform repetitive tasks (computer data entry). | |
