Overview

The Labor & Employment Workplace Investigator is responsible for conducting impartial and thorough investigations into workplace concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and policy violations. This role ensures investigations are handled consistently, confidentially, and in alignment with legal requirements and company policies.



What you will be doing

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Conduct impartial investigations into complaints involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, workplace misconduct, policy violations, and other employee relations concerns.
  • Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses respectfully and professionally, ensuring neutrality and due process.
  • Collect, analyze, and evaluate documentation, evidence, and data to form fact-based conclusions.
  • Draft clear, concise, and legally sound investigation reports, summarizing findings and making recommendations where appropriate.
  • Partner with HRBPs, Legal, Compliance, and leadership to ensure alignment with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Guide leaders on policy application, corrective action, and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records within case management systems.
  • Analyze case data to identify trends and recommend proactive measures to strengthen workplace culture and compliance.
  • Designs, facilitates and tracks education and training as needed on policies, procedures and process standards as well as rules and regulations of regulatory agencies.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and workplace investigation procedures

Perform additional assignments per management's direction.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or related field
  • Candidates should have 5+ years of corporate investigative experience, including harassment and discrimination investigations, with extensive experience conducting effective workplace investigations involving in-person or virtual interviews of employees and vendors across all functional areas.
  • Prior experience in a union or multi-state environment

Knowledge, Skills & Ability

  • Works reactively on critical employee relations issues that are crisis-oriented and typically can only be successfully completed with limited time. Balancing time between projects and crisis-response is a critical component for success in the position.
  • Able to build relationships with internal and external business contacts required.
  • Strong interviewing, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong time-management skills required
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse field teams, including unionized workforces
  • Critical-thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality over employment records, inquiries, medical information, investigations and other employment related items require
