STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydraulics Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside experienced water resources and transportation professionals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Preference will be given to candidates who can participate for at least three months and work full-time. In this role, you will support senior and junior engineers on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater management. Projects may include roadway drainage systems, culverts, stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment control, and green infrastructure solutions. Candidates should have a strong interest in hydraulics, water resources, and transportation infrastructure design. Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Support the development of stormwater management reports, drainage studies, and technical memoranda.
  • Assist with storm drain, culvert, and erosion and sediment control design tasks.
  • Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (such as HEC-RAS, StormCAD, or similar tools) as appropriate to assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation of drawings using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD.
  • Format reports, calculations, and specifications to support project documentation.
  • Support project file management, including organization of electronic documents, printing, and scanning as needed.
  • Gain exposure to permitting processes, including NPDES and local or state stormwater requirements.
  • Utilize company-wide and department-specific software to complete assigned tasks.
  • Gain practical experience and broad exposure to STV's organizational structure through diverse assignments and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Required:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.
  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics, hydrology, stormwater management, or water resources engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Compensation Range:

$45,675.00 - $51,903.00
