Molex is seeking an Engineer Assistant to support our R&D teams developing cutting edge optical components and modules. The Assistant Engineer will support lab activities to support design, transition to production, and testing of optical transceivers. The Assistant Engineer will assist engineers with lab maintenance, procurement, rework, management of test equipment, and routine optical/electrical testing. This may include: set up laboratory experiments, process the data, and report results; document work instructions; ensure components are adequately inspected and qualified; track materials and component supplies and work with multi-disciplinary team.

What You Will Do

  • Engineering support: supporting engineers with design, prototyping, production, and testing
  • Lab maintenance: keeping the lab organized, ensuring instrument calibration, and maintaining test setups
  • Procurement: ordering parts, materials, and instruments, tracking inventories, and managing components used in R&D lab
  • Rework: assisting in modifying or repairing PCB boards, fiber optic assemblies, and/or electronic components
  • Test equipment management: setting up, labeling, maintaining, calibrating, and scheduling the use of test instruments
  • Optical/electrical testing: running measurements, and collecting data
  • Shipping process: working with shipping department for vendors/customers/our purchases

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Associates Degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in an electronic or testing lab
  • Experience with optical transceivers
  • Understanding of basic electrical principles
  • Experience managing inventory
  • Experience calibrating equipment
  • Experience running electronic tests

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience working with Optical Transceivers
  • Laboratory experience or equivalent experience working with optical transceivers or optical communication systems is highly desired

For this role, we anticipate paying $80,000 - $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
