Description
With the UC Abusive Conduct policy issued in January 2023, there is a need to resource the work in order to ensure compliance with the new policy, which has requirements and parameters akin to the SVSH and discrimination policies, which have separate investigative units. Like other campuses, include UCLA campus, we need to establish an investigative unit to ensure compliance. When appropriate, provide recommendations resulting from the investigations. In partnership with Employee / Labor Relations, facilitate complaint resolution, when appropriate. Effectively coordinate investigations and/or collaborate/partner with Employee / Labor Relations, Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Staff Diversity & Compliance, Title IX, Risk Management, Staff/Faculty Counseling, Audit, Campus HR, Local/General Counsel and UCOP when appropriate/required. Provide training and consultation to departments in a variety of employee relations/complaint areas to reduce future complaints and liability. Assist in process improvements related to complaint investigations; within Human Resources and in coordination with other UCLA Offices/UCOP. Manage special projects as assigned. Serve on cross functional task forces/committees. Provide cross coverage for Employee Relations as needed. Salary Range is $105,700 to $234,500 Annually Qualifications
* 7+ years of progressive experience in employee relations/complaint investigations (or related experience). * Healthcare industry, higher education, and/or public sector experience preferred; experience in a union environment preferred. * Ability to lead and conduct all aspects of complex workplace investigations. * Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g. DOL, EEOC, Title IX, FMLA/CFRA, ADA, etc). * Strong analytical skills to interpret and dissect complex issues. * Strong written communication skills to write clear, concise and logical reports, correspondence and summaries. * Strong oral communication skills to effectively convey and explain information to all levels of employees and management. Strong skills in effectively conducting investigatory interviews. * Strong interpersonal skills; with ability to listen well, demonstrate sensitivity to all parties, and facilitate resolutions. * Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other UCLA offices (Title IX Office, Office of Legal Affairs, Office of Compliance and Privacy Services, Insurance and Risk Management, etc.) and with the UC Office of the President. * MS Office Suite proficiency (MS Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc). | |
