Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Food & Nutrition Operations Manager.

In this role, the successful candidate The Kitchen Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all sanitation, purchasing, storeroom staff, and the organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, walk-in refrigerators, and storeroom areas. This role manages procurement, equipment maintenance, and general kitchen upkeep, serving as the primary liaison with the Engineering Department and equipment vendors. The Manager ensures compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols and infection control guidelines, maintains an orderly and sanitary kitchen, dish room, and pot room environments, and supervises staff schedules to align with budgetary requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee sanitation and cleaning operations for the kitchen, dish room, pot room, walk-ins, and storerooms.
  • Supervise storeroom staff, kitchen cleaners, dish room, and pot room personnel; develop and assign cleaning schedules and duties ensuring timely completion.
  • Manage procurement activities related to kitchen operations, including inventory control and vendor relations.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment; act as liaison with Engineering Department and external vendors to schedule and manage preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure staff compliance with HACCP guidelines by monitoring completion of temperature log sheets and adherence to infection control standards.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and sanitary environment in all kitchen and storage areas.
  • Experience coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams.
  • Prepare and manage staff schedules in line with budgeted Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs), minimizing overtime while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational workflows and sanitation standards.
  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback, completes performance evaluations and manages through constructive coaching, corrective action and motivational tactics.
  • Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health. Achieves a world class level of food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests.
  • Ensures a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and culture of excellence.
  • Maintains sanitary, safe, and efficient operation inaccordance with all regulatory bodies and department policies
  • Executes and implements departmental QIA standards to ensure safe and quality food, facilities, and service.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and counseling of staff, union and exempt.
  • Responsible for scheduling and completing payroll functions. Ensures that all staff members complete required organizational and compliance training.
  • Participates in the review, revision, and/or development of departmental policies

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Proven experience in foodservice operations management, sanitation, and inventory control.
Bachelor's degree
ServSafe Certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
Minimum 5 years' experience in a foodservice setting with at least 2 years of managerial experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a healthcare or institutional foodservice setting.
Familiarity with budgeting and labor scheduling software.
Experience working in or with a unionized environment.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $77,258.68 - $133,271.23 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
